  • 2 cups whole strawberries (heaping cups)
  • 1.5 cups blueberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • juice of 1/2 a lemon

  1. Rinse the strawberries and blueberries before removing the stems from the strawberries. Cut the strawberries in half.

  2. Add the berries to a medium pot, then add the sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Stir everything to combine using a big wooden spoon.

  3. Turn on the stove to medium high heat and let the mixture start to bubble. Give everything a stir again then lower the heat to medium low or as low as you can go while still keeping the mixture slightly simmering.

  4. Let the jam simmer for 40 to 45 minutes, giving it a stir occasionally. Once the liquid has reduced tremendously, to the point where you can easily see the bottom of the pot when running your wooden spoon through the mixture, turn off the stove.

  5. Pour the mixture into a clean pint-size jar and let it cool without the lid on for at least 1 hour. Then cover and refrigerate to enjoy as you please.
